Things are hectic at the "Black and White Horse Inn" on Lake Königssee. Cordula, the young owner of the long-established family business, has just learned that her father, who died five years ago, included a clause in his will: If she fails to find a husband in the hospitality industry, she must hand the "horse" over to her greedy uncle Simon. He, in turn, had hidden the will in order to present it to Cordula now, just before the deadline. She has two weeks to fulfill her father's wishes. Kurt Hoffmann′s satire concerning Germany′s development during the first half of the 20th century tells the story of two schoolmates - Hans and Bruno. They could not be more different. Father Scherzer generally buries himself in the books of the castle library, which he is responsible for managing. He is a warm-hearted but somewhat overwhelmed father to his five daughters, ranging from a preschooler to two teenage girls to a successful press photographer who flirts with a dashing dentist. While he is trying to sell the castle to an overbearing American millionaire, the housekeeper quits, and the youth welfare office insists on discipline and order in the five-girl household.
