A Head for Business

A prosperous small-town peddler accedes to his family's wish to move from their secure existence to the uncertainty of New York City. It proves fruitless and eventually his kin sees the error of their ways and return to their true home.

An American munitions manufacturer and his son become ensnarled with enemy agents from Germany during the First World War.

The hero is a young soldier who is in love with two girls simultaneously. While on the battlefield, the soldier learns that one of his sweethearts has committed suicide. Only temporarily taken aback, he begins to dream of the blissful domesticity which he will enjoy with the other girl upon his return.

Bertha Sloan loses her job as a sewing-machine girl and subsequently is employed as telephone girl with a lingerie manufacturing company. She soon falls in love with the assistant shipping clerk, Roy Davis, and is promoted to chief model for the firm, owing to the patronage of Morton, the wealthy and wicked manager. Bertha is about to take a position in Paris as designer when Morton lures her to his home.

Neal, while sitting in his room, notices an accident in the street and kindly goes to the man's rescue with his car and takes him to the hospital. The nurse assigned to the case, Billie, makes a great hit with Neal.

As early as 1919, Russian Communists (then known as Bolsheviks) were convenient movie villains. This heavy-handed comedy uses the Russian revolution as an excuse for a series of slapstick set pieces.

By necessity, Peg is forced to demonstrate fat-reducing rollers in a shop window, where she is unfavorably viewed by Mrs. Schuyler and her husband. She is admired by Sam Billings, a wealthy old bachelor, and becomes involved with Maddox, who affects an interest in her paintings. But through a series of reversals and complications, Peg is made to realize that Dick is the worthier man.

Fannie joins Johnny to perform a music-hall act which becomes a success, until two Broadway producers catch the act and offer Fannie a job on their latest show; however, they have no place for Johnny, so Fannie turns down the offer. (Film considered lost.)

Young millionaire Turner Brooks is engaged to marry the poor but sweet Dora Carton however the maliciously rapacious Emma DeWolf wants to snag him for his money. Both before and after their marriage Emma tries every means to poison his mind against Dora but ultimately fails.

Upon recovering her sight, Eleanor discovers Burton is married, leading her to seek independence by completing her father's art and becoming a renowned artist in New York. On a trip to a small village Mr. Jones overhears two separate men showing a picture of his wife and talking about going to see her when they go to the city. He jealously follows them to the depot and then to his house. Once there he ties them up and waits for his wife’s return. Just when everything looks to take a murderous turn in walks their maid, Belinda. Belinda admits it was she who sent pictures of her mistress fearing she herself was too plain to catch a man’s attention. Mr. & Mrs. Jones see the ludicrous side and all is forgiven.

Bill Drake is a cowpoke who must prove himself innocent of robbing the general store. The real culprit, as our hero detects, is Tom Evans, the weakling son of a local rancher.

Dorothy Gerard, visiting a Washington D.C. suburb, receives a letter from her father announcing his return from California. He also mentions a series of robberies that have been plaguing Washington.
