Dream Chasers

This Traveltalk series short visits various places around the United States. At the first stop, we admire the natural beauty of Crater Lake in Oregon. The next stop is the open pit copper mine at Bingham Canyon, Utah, the world's largest copper mine. We then spend time in Hannibal, Missouri, the hometown of author Mark Twain. After a short visit to a log-rolling contest in Washington State, we cross the country to get a view of Washington, DC from across the Potomac River. The final stop on this tour is Arlington National Cemetery, where we see the Tomb of the Unknown, Arlington House, and the mast of the USS Maine, which was sunk in 1898 in Havana Harbor.

Journey to Paris, the City of Light. Marvel at the panorama from the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Walk down the Champs-Élysées from l'Etoile to Place de la Concorde. Go inside Maxim's and Tour d'Argent to experience an elegant French meal, then pause at Dux magots for a cafe au lait. Stroll along the Rue du Faubourg St. Honore and window shop at Dior and Lanvin. Enter the Louvre to view Winged VIctory, Venus de Milo and Mona Lisa. Glide down the Seine on a bateau mouche, past Notre Dame and the Ile St. Louis. Zoom through traffic in a Parisian taxi and ride the Metro. Climb to Montmartre, Sacre Coeur and Place du Tertre. Take a side trip to Versailles and be dazzled by the Hall of Mirrors.

In the summer of 1961, a group of young Italian anthropologists made a clandestine journey through Spain, in order to record popular songs that supported anti-Franco resistance. As a result of their work, they were prosecuted and their recordings were censored. Sixty years later, and guided by Emilio Jona, aged 92, the last living member of that group of travellers, we recover the unpublished recordings and reconstruct the journey, today, across an emotional and political landscape, regaining historical memories through these songs, as relevant today as they were then.
