Lorelei Lee is a beautiful showgirl engaged to be married to the wealthy Gus Esmond, much to the disapproval of Gus' rich father, Esmond Sr., who thinks that Lorelei is just after his money. When Lorelei goes on a cruise accompanied only by her best friend, Dorothy Shaw, Esmond Sr. hires Ernie Malone, a private detective, to follow her and report any questionable behavior that would disqualify her from the marriage.

'Malo Misto' lives its own life, but not far behind the times. Hotel manager Roko Prč strives to organise tourism, so he introduces the first nudist beach. His wife Anđa brings two of her cousins from the Dalmatian hinterland and demands Roko to hire them. One of them, a young man named Ikan, earns the attention of a beautiful Swedish tourist. From Chile to Malo Misto returned Tonči, nicknamed Servantes, of course, without any money. He fell on the back of his hardworking aunt Keka, who even without him has enough problems of her own. Servantes also experiences an unexpected romance.

A young drawing teacher wins a dream trip to the West Indies in a competition. The journey takes her on a luxury ship to Jamaica and Haiti. The dances and music of the locals and the cities of Kingston and Port-au-Prince with their bustling markets form the backdrop to this little comedy of mistaken identity, in which an unattractive but precious necklace plays a confusing role.

Popeye, Olive Oyl and more King Features Syndicate comic strip characters are invited on a cruise hosted by Professor Grimsby, a mad scientist who wants to eliminate laughter from the world. When the ship is held hostage on his island lair, it's up to the much more action-inclined Mandrake the Magician, Steve Canyon, and Flash Gordon (among others) to save the funnymakers from their eternal inprisonment.

For business reasons, Rosemary is supposed to marry Peter, a stranger to her, according to her father's wishes. However, while fleeing from America back to Europe, Rosemary and Peter meet under assumed names and fall in love.

A disgruntled former employee hijacks the Seabourn Legend cruise liner.
