The first hungry years after the war: fragments of lost death notices still arrive, the Doctors' Case is fabricated, the fight against rootless cosmopolitanism and a new wave of persecution of the clergy are gaining momentum - in one of the remote villages, a little five-year-old girl is being bullied, called a fascist, because her mother returned from a concentration camp with a child, which means she had him with a German. Avdotya, a mother of many children, tries to take care of the girl, but she herself has seven children to feed. Only when the village priest, Father Alexander, appears in the path of the persecuted child does a new story begin - a story of taming and love.
