Splintered facets of a stridently non-binary personality were explored with 2023's Radical Romantics along with a very human need for intimacy, its most vulnerable moments still as steely and unsettling as a shark circling its prey. As a sci-fi obsessed woman living in near isolation, Beverly Glenn-Copeland wrote and self-released Keyboard Fantasies in Huntsville, Ontario back in 1986. Recorded in an Atari-powered home-studio, the cassette featured seven tracks of a curious folk-electronica hybrid, a sound realized far before its time. Three decades on, the musician – now Glenn Copeland – began to receive emails from people across the world, thanking him for the music they’d recently discovered.

Documentary portrait of José Domínguez Muñoz, better known as "El Cabrero" (French for "the goatherd"), Spanish libertarian flamenco singer born in Aznalcóllar, province of Seville, in 1944 and filmed over two weeks in 1988 in Seville, Aznalcóllar, La Carbonería de Sevilla and Marinaleda, and in concert at a recital in Bayonne. Politically committed, El Cabrero defines himself as a libertarian. Since the 1970s, he has been close to the anarchist movement. For many years, he was a member of the anarcho-syndicalist Confédération Nationale du Travail.

From a high school art class to a local radio station, the day-to-day lives of several women coalesce into a poetic documentation of women’s presence and physicality across everyday spaces.

More than two decades after reshaping electronic music as one-half of The Knife, Swedish avant-pop artist Fever Ray brought their radical sonic vision to Sydney Opera House at Vivid LIVE 2024 for their highly anticipated Australian debut. From the spectral synth beats of The Knife to the shapeshifting pop soundscapes of their solo work, Swedish avant-garde alchemist Karin Dreijer – aka Fever Ray – carved a singular, uncompromising path through 21st-century electronic music. Following The Knife’s wildly successful third album, Silent Shout – named by Pitchfork as the best album of 2006 – Fever Ray released their 2009 self-titled debut, a modern masterpiece of haunting, left-field electro-pop. It was followed by 2017’s Plunge, which found Dreijer embracing their newfound queer identity through a set of irresistibly sensual, alien pop songs.

The film presents thirteen rhythms of flamenco, each with song, guitar, and dance: the up-tempo bularías, a brooding farruca, an anguished martinete, and a satiric fandango de huelva. There are tangos, a taranta, alegrías, siguiriyas, soleás, a guajira of patrician women, a petenera about a sentence to death, villancicos, and a final rumba.
