A young boy is sent to live with relatives when his parents break up. He befriends a dying boy who has an eerie connection with nature.

An abused beagle runs away from his owner. On the road, he meets young Marty Preston and follows him home. The boy immediately forms a bond with the dog and names him Shiloh. In a climactic moment, Ranko manages to save his loyal friend from the hunting party, solidifying their bond.

While Oliver runs into a little girl named Jenny who becomes his new owner which he is happy with and later Sykes sees Jenny as the key for him to get his money.
