Atsay Killer: Buti Nga Sa'yo

Official entry to the first Metro Manila Film Festival in 1984 directed by Angel Labra and starred Eddie Garcia, Panchito, Cachupoy, Fauzi Omar, Isabel Rivas, Barbara Luna, Julie Ann Fortich, Donna Villa, and Rosemarie de Vera.

Packaged as your run of the mill comedy this sequel to Atsay Killer leans dark on its satire of both gender and the trivialities of love. The movie starts with Don Mariano (Garcia) getting his heart broken finding out that his fiancée is indeed also a man. It is a karma of sorts for Mariano as being a known womanizer especially of an "atsay", a kind of derogative word for a housemaid. He awaits his fiancée's eventual sex change and retreats to a recently inherited mansion. The tone then shifts to six women escapees, who makes their way to the Mariano's mansion and easily teases and disposes of the caretaker and its guards. In a The Beguiled like fashion, the six women dominates Don Mariano and his assistants for their sexual urges once they arrived in the mansion. Hilarity ensues as Mariano and his men attempt to escape both their urges and from the mansion without any success. Eddie Garcia returns with a lackluster and somehow cash grab role, being partly being a secondary character despite being the lead. Brief charming scenes with Paquito Diaz were fresh and different from his usual villain roles. Rivas, and the rest of the ladies gave fierce and energetic performances to offset Garcia's. Legendary comedic actors Panchito and Cachupoy provided most of the laughs as they should. Overall, the movie tried to be a goofy sex comedy on coattails of the previous success of the first one. The attempt to give some of the women their own character arcs fail to fill the story with any substance but does shifts it to a darker tone. The unexpected ending maybe a hilarious take but more than justifies the experience.
