Santa Claus: The Serial Killer

A detailed account of the McDonald's Monopoly game scam during the 1990s as told by the participants in the case, including the prizewinners and the FBI agents who caught the security officer who orchestrated the entire scheme.

Between 1970 and 1985, the greater Montréal area experienced about ten murders involving acts of sexual violence. Three experts, Claude Sarrazin, Guillaume Louis and Sophie Charest, examine the hypothesis about one serial killer who was in Québec during this period.

Focusing on five disparate characters who each toil and/or party well into the night (hence the title), this latenight entry takes the “city that never sleeps” line and runs with it. The result is visually provocative but only mildly entertaining, and never for a moment truly convincing.

This true-crime series tells stories of actual murders committed not by strangers but by someone the victim knew, someone hiding in plain sight, or someone leading a double life. These wolves in sheep's clothing use deception as a weapon to try to get away with murder.
