For two years the filmmakers followed Royal Antwerp FC closely, recording how the 'Great Old' fought its way back to the highest soccer league after more than 12 years. A film about hope and disillusionment, sadness and euphoria of a soccer club with a loyal and fanatical legion of supporters.

In a land where man had to fight for his piece of the pie and fight harder to keep it, "Paddy" was almost unbeatable. From the 19th century gang wars to the 20th century wars with the Italians, "Paddy" whacked their way to a mythical status. We trace the legacy of the Irish Mob, deeply rooted in the diabolical power trio of "Gangster, Politician, and Lawman" feeding and festering off one another.

For just over an hour and a half, Two Billion Hearts takes the viewer back to the adventure of the world cup of the United States and packs the audience on a journey through emotion, the expressions of their protagonists, fans in the stadiums and in the streets to the stars on the lawns, the cameras walk an uneven and vibrant path to world history. Two Billion Hearts is much more than the official World Cup film in the United States, it is a journey, for the passion of football, for the soul of the fans, for the feat of their idols. The film shows the best moments of the Cup and accompanies the Show of the fans of 24 countries in the United States, where more than 300 thousand football lovers traveled around the world

The mining industry, which always had been “sponsor” and “financier” of the soccer clubs in the Ruhr valley during the post-war period, doesn’t exist anymore nowadays in that form. Many of the once glorious clubs which dominated German soccer until the 1970s faded into obscurity without financial backers. The documentary “Im Westen ging die Sonne auf" ("The sun had risen in the west“) shows the history of the “Revierfußball” from after the second World War until the decline of the mining industry and recalls legendary players and forgotten clubs. The film shows especially how deeply rooted the sport was back then in the entire lifestyle of the Ruhr area - in private life as well as in society - and how structural change also left clearly visible marks in sports. With pictures from back then, interviews with contemporary witnesses, and footage of original locations nowadays, a contemporary document of German post-war history, by taking the example of soccer, has been created.

Along the way we get to know Seán, whose hypersensitivity to sound has proven both a struggle and a strength. At once inspiring and cautionary, Seán’s journey illustrates the beauty and importance of sound, and what listening can tell us about the state of our natural world.
