There is a mold that seems to be alive and it infects people creating elaborate monsters from them. This mold infects an entire apartment complex as the people in the complex try to escape.

The movie deals with the trials and tribulations of multiple disconnected characters trying to find meaning in the spiritual and super natural experiences they have.
