Young psychotherapist Ernest is an expert in being normal – he even has a PhD in normalization. He’s just begun his first job, at the prestigious (if rather gloomy) Institute for Extremely Normal Behaviour. It’s immediately clear his patients need his help: the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, Tweedledum and Tweedledee and the furious Queen of Hearts all claim to be from somewhere called Wonderland. Blowing out the candles, she receives instructions on how to leave this dimension, but also how to enter new ones.

Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" goes goth in Mari Terashima's screen adaptation of the children's classic. Terashima brings together Goth Loli performance troupe Rose de Reficul et Guiggles, doll maker Mari Shimizu and magician and actor-dwarf Mame Yamada (Blue Spring, 9 Souls) to create a macabre trip down the rabbit hole. The film appears animated, but the gothic characters are as real as can be.
