Three activists cobble together a kidnapping plot after they encounter a businessman in his home.

Plum out of luck, Swabian farmer Huber’s farm goes under. Then his girlfriend Birgit takes over her father’s newly-acquired firm – in former East Germany. That's reason enough for Huber to bail on his debts and head out on a road trip through southwest Germany.

Unni (Dileep) has many debts and no way to repay them. He decides to commit suicide so that his parents can use the insurance money to repay the debts, but he is saved by a fisherman named Gangadharan (Cochin Haneefa) and his employee Ramanan (Harisree Ashokan). When they notice Unni drowning, Unni pretends to be deaf and mute so that he can fake his death and the insurance money reaches his family. Gangadharan however has a debt of his own, to a Punjabi family of money lenders who have settled in Kerala. He is forced to make Unni and Ramanan to work at their home until he can repay it. A series of interesting events follow after Unni meets Pooja (Mohini) at the house, who is deaf and mute.

The movie revolves around the life of John (‘Karmayodha’ fame Arjun). John tries hard to free himself from the heavy debts left behind by his father. John is helped by his friends Jaffer and Janardhanan through thick and thin. At this juncture when they are in desperate need for money, unexpectedly they get a huge amount of money. The resulting issues in their life form the plot of ‘John Honai’. ‘John Honai’ is the debut directorial venture of Thoufeeq. The movie is produced by Madhu Thillankary. The movie is scripted by Fazal. The lines of Santhosh Varma are tuned by Alex Paul. Rizabava does the role of Honai. Mukesh, Jagadish, Siddique, Asokan, Sreeram, Kalabhavan Navas, Jaffer, Malavika Menon, Kottayam Nazeer, Saju, and Sinoj include the cast.
