The Toronto Blue Jays — the defending champions — sleek, corporate, efficient — featuring an offensive arsenal that hit a collective 0.311 in the six-game series. The Philadelphia Phillies — a last-to-first success story — with their long hair, beards, and blue-collar work ethic — a softball team in pinstripes. This was a World Series that won't soon be forgotten. A six-game slugfest that sent pitchers scurrying to the showers. The heroes were named Dykstra, Molitor, Schilling and Alomar. The games were unforgettable. The sheer drama of Game Four — with its runs, hits, and duration — all records. The surgical precision of Curt Schilling's shutout in Game Five. And Joe Carter's incredible three-run blast to win Game Six — just the second time in history a home run has ended a World Series.

The Philadelphia Phillies 2008 World Series Collector's Edition begins where it should, with the final games in the Phillies' pre-World Series, post-season contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It's exciting to revisit the Phillies' comeback in the eighth inning of game four, when they were down 5 to 3 but rallied on home runs by Shane Victorino and Matt Stairs. Watching winning pitcher Cole Hamels shut down the Dodgers in game five demonstrates why he was named series MVP. Kudzu, or Pueraria Thunbergiana, is a vine threatening to take over large portions of the Southern landscape. Imported from Japan by the Departement of Agriculture in the 30's for erosion control, its spreading growth has become a problem of menacing proportions. Kudzu is an off-beat, witty, informative documentary about the vine that is devouring the South. Featuring the Kudzu Queen, the Kudzu rock band, a cast of real-life characters and an appearance by former President Jimmy Carter, it illustrates how Southern cultural traditions have quickly grown up around a botanical pest.
