When the remake of the 2014 series was announced, I wasn't just skeptical – I actually asked myself not only whether a remake of a 10-year-old series made any sense, but also whether I really wanted to watch yet another Thai high school BL series. But then I watched the first episode, and was immediately hooked. I won't add a synopsis here, because the story isn't really unique. Of course this series isn't meant to be the re-invention of the wheel, and it really isn't – we've seen so many high school series that there can't be a completely new story or surprising incidents, especially not in a remake. But there is something new, a big surprise, and the reason why I really loved this series – the cast. I'm so tired of high school series with actors who have clearly grown beyond high school age. I find it simply embarrassing to have 30-year-olds running around in blue shorts. I'm also tired of high school series with actors in high-school age, but who are completely talent-free. What makes ”Love Sick 2024” so amiable is the cast of boys in high-school age who are all highly talented. Holy cow – Progress Passawish as Noh imho is the biggest BL acting talent since Perth Tanapon in LBC. How can a 15-year-old have the capacity of carrying on his shoulders a series of 15 hours runtime? And he really does carry the whole thing, although the entire cast is just gorgeous. There are scenes where the boys are just fooling around like 15-year-olds do, and I suspect the director simply told them ”Boys, just fool around” to exploit the huge amount of talent and joy of acting that the genius who cast these actors has gathered – and because he trusted his extraordniary cast. Boys, it's been a pleasure watching you!
