What Shaniss and Mikuan both see as freedom are not aligned, nor is their idea of captivity. It will test their friendship and their commitment to one another, and results in a beautifully poignant and melancholic conclusion. It's what has left 'Kuessipan' lingering on my mind, and I believe it's a film that the more people who see it, the more people will learn and benefit from it. There is no “right“ path for these girls to take, but the confidence with which Myriam Verreault approaches the issues makes for a captivating and tender film.
