Buried Land tells the story of ordinary people attempting to realize a dream. Two actors cut a path through the real community and strange reality of Visoko, the small town at the heart of a remarkable claim: the discovery of ancient pyramids, not in Egypt, but central Bosnia. Emir is a Bosnian émigré, removed during the war and now struggling to rediscover his homeland.

Middle-aged cinephile and film projectionist Pera still lives with his mother - and best friend - Mara, in Belgrade. It's 1999 and when NATO bombs start raining down on Serbia, the two of them become refugees. After a surreal journey, they end up in New York, where Pera realizes that he can no longer do the old job he loved so much. While he and Mara were struggling to survive, the new age of digital projection was born. Then Pera stumbles upon some discarded projectors and his new mission in life becomes clear: he will travel around and show people the magic of Real Cinema - the magic that can only be created by celluoid, mechanical projectors, the silver screen and flickering light.

A detachment of the Polish IFOR forces in Bosnia is led by Major Keller, who is being investigated for insubordination during a patrol in Srebrenica. The investigation is to be led by two arriving officers - Lieutenant Czacki and Major Kusz who will also replace Keller as CO. Moved by his love for his girlfriend Senka, Senad leaves his job at the hospital and comes to the besieged city. Avoiding the armed groups roaming the city, he finally finds Senka at her brother Zan's home. Zan happens to be Senad's best friend and is working in the theater as a clown in the production, "Flying Tours of Duty." His girlfriend Senka is working in a hospital but has no time for love. Dejected Senad returns to his flat, only to find it has been demolished by the war. Zan invites Senad to live together with him, his wife and Senka. The rest of the film recounts the tragic events that befall the group and how they face up to them.

Thematically diverse stories written by Petar Kocic are bond by the thread, creating the basis for a dramatic story of the events surrounding the student Simeun. In the foreground there's a summary of Simeun's features, some patriotic, but some arrogant as well. These Simeun's actions are manifesto of the complexity of his nature, acting like a tyrant and patriot who displays bravery for the sake of freedom of his people.

A group of 19 young women, led by a partizan man, are the only people available to escort a number of partisan wounded in the struggle for freedom, in the mountain ranges invaded by the Nazi army. The crossing of difficult tracks, and a few encounters with enemy patrols provide danger, and death for some heroines. Two girls are in love with the column's commander, but love for the motherland and freedom will prove stronger.
