The story of a family living in a New York City slum in 1912, headed by a loving but alcoholic father and a strong-willed mother.

A gruff Chicago cop is killed in the line of duty - only to come back in the unlikeliest form: a flatulent English bulldog. Still armed with his badge, his instincts, and his bad attitude, he sets out to track down his killer while learning to live on four legs.
