My Best - Every Saint has a past

This documentary follows the French soccer team on their way to victory in the 1998 World Cup in France. Stéphane Meunier spent the whole time filming the players, the coach and some other important characters of this victory, giving us a very intimate and nice view of them, as if we were with them.

The trials, tribulations and perpetual disappointments which have beset the managers of the England men's national football team since the country's solitary World Cup win in 1966.

In the Ivorian capital Abidjan, the boys are fantasizing about life as a footballer in Europe. For many of them football is a ticket to a brighter future for themselves and their families. The dream suddenly comes true for one of them when a Swedish agent takes the merely 17-year old talent to a club in Stockholm. From the moment he is scouted to his arrival in the cold North, the expectations of the young talent are enormous. Everybody, from his family to his agents and new club put their hopes into him. But can he with stand the pressure that goes hand in hand with a career in professional football?

In 2022, he made the challenging decision to leave his beloved Leeds United and join Manchester City. As he faced the pressures of adjusting to a new team he sustained a serious injury, threatening his inclusion in both Man City and the England World Cup squad

Coming off the back of a disastrous 2022/23 season, Chelsea will be hoping for a fresh start this season under the management of Argentine Mauricio Pochettino. With no European football to look forward to, the focus will be firmly on the league and domestic cup competitions as an influx of exciting young footballers such as Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson will look to combine with last seasons signings of Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernández. With a number of experienced players leaving the club, hopes will be high that 2023/24 will start a turnaround in fortunes and goals - the latter being so sorely lacking last season.

But before that stand four years of work on a construction site of superlatives. The director Wolfgang Ettlich and his cameraman Hans-Albrecht Lusznat have followed the construction of the new Munich soccer arena since the first groundbreaking. They have recorded several phases of the construction and did thereby get to know the microcosmos of a large construction site from the inside: The logistics, with which hundreds of construction workers have to be coordinated, and the steady growth of the stadium all the way to the perfectly conceptualized illuminated structure, with VIP-boxes, mass restaurants, and Europe’s largest parking garage.
