Journey to the West is a Chinese television series adapted from the classical novel of the same title. The series was first broadcast on CCTV in China on 1 October 1986. The series became an instant classic in China and is still being praised as the best and most authentic interpretation of the novel. Unadapted portions of the original story were later covered in the second season, which was released in 1999. In 2020, these series were dubbed in English.

Join him and his companions on a legendary pilgrimage to the “Western Regions” as they seek their path of Enlightenment after many trials and suffering.

Many years ago, humans and demons lived in harmony. But that unity ended when demons started attacking humans and plotted a mission to unleash Gyumao - an evil demon imprisoned for thousands of years. Now, Genjo Sanzo, a rogue priest, must team up with three demons - Sha Gojyo, Son Goku, and Cho Hakkai - and embark on a perilous journey to the west to stop these demons from resurrecting Gyumao and restore the balance between humans and demons on Earth.

Young Goku sets off on a quest with his teenage friend Bulma to find the seven Dragon Balls, which grant whoever possesses them a single wish.

"My Journey to the West" tells the story of Sun Wukong and Yang Jian, who were so angry during a duel that they accidentally traveled to modern Beijing. The two, who had lost all their powers, wandered on the streets of Beijing but still fantasized about being heroes again. After a funny journey, the two accidentally broke into a theater where the drama "My Journey to the West" was being performed, and met the reincarnated Tang Monk, White Bone Spirit, Bajie, Yang Chan, and others. The "Journey to the West Family" formed by this used constantly happening hilarious stories to show the conflict between modern and ancient times, mythology and reality to the audience one by one.
