Overview

Tales from the Loop is a science fiction drama series based on the same name's art book by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag.
Stålenhag became popular on the web about five years ago, and he began to paint the well-known landscapes of provincial Sweden with fantastic elements.

Tales from the Loop tells the stories of several families living near the underground facility known as the Loop. The experiments carried out in the Loop affect the terrain around the accelerator in a certain way. Strange objects and anomalies appear here, unknown robots wander, inexplicable incidents occur from time to time.

Time of action - the end of the 70s - the beginning of the 80s, so the surroundings, clothes, cars, and computers are appropriate here. Despite the presence of robots and flying harvesters, mobile phones are not here yet.

The series tells about envy and the desire to take someone else's place, the transience of time, work, making it impossible to spend time with loved ones, about the fleetingness of feelings, about finding your place, what makes us monsters, about love. There is actually very little fiction in this fantasy series; it tells about simple human problems from the centuries.

Tales from the Loop is more of an art-house than a mainstream series, and not everyone will like it. It is incredibly slow; there is no coherent general plot in it; many shots and scenes are needed to advance the story somehow but fulfill a purely aesthetic role. Nevertheless, it is a stunning, kind, and in the right way, sad series.
