PARFUM explores the absurd dichotomy between California’s ever-increasing obsession with luxury real estate and lifestyle culture (as depicted in Netflix’s hit reality show “Selling Sunset”) and California’s simultaneous increase in wildfires, mudslides, and other climate disasters.

A funny, cruel exploration of the male psyche, Enter Achilles is set in a typical British pub, a shabby, nicotine-stained boozer. Pop songs tumble out of the jukebox, there is football on the TV, and the eight men lark around, pint glasses in hand. In the spring of 1913, Parisian businessman Gabriel Astruc opens a new theater on the Champs Elysées. The first performance is the premiere of Igor Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring', danced by the Ballet Russes. The rehearsal process is extremely fraught: the orchestra dislike Stravinsky's harsh, atonal music; the dancers dislike the 'ugly' choreography of Vaslav Nijinsky. The volatile, bisexual Nijinsky is in a strained relationship with the much older Sergei Diaghilev, the Ballet Russes' charismatic but manipulative impresario. Public expectation is extremely high after Nijinsky's success in 'L'apres-midi d'un faune'. Finally, 'The Rite of Spring' premieres to a gossip-loving, febrile, fashion-conscious Parisian audience sharply divided as to its merits.

Over 3 studio sessions, a dancer overcomes his self-doubt and regains his self-confidence through this other character pushing him to get out of his comfort zone. His anxiety is represented through the delay of his reflection in the dance studio mirror.
