Juno encounters different characters in his dreams as he seeks to make sense of his past with Clarissa. Confusing and distorted memories haunt him and prevent him from moving forward in the writing of his novel. Juno asks his best friend Dyno for help to solve the enigma that haunts him so much and that dwells in the deepest part of his being. Dyno will perform a ritual in order to clarify to Juno all his thoughts and the final meaning that is inside him, in his innermost, darkest depths.

When the renegade crew of Serenity agrees to hide a fugitive on their ship, they find themselves in an action-packed battle between the relentless military might of a totalitarian regime who will destroy anything – or anyone – to get the girl back and the bloodthirsty creatures who roam the uncharted areas of space. He is young, in a jungle setting, with two fanciful "instincts" guiding him as swooping bird-like acrobats initially menace, then delight. As he watches their sensual acrobatics of love, he becomes a man. He is offered wealth (represented by a golden hat) by a devil figure. In a richly decorated room, a scruffy troupe of a dozen acrobats and a little girl reawaken the old man's youthful nature and love.
