The Last Brunch

Charley Chase has car trouble.

An undertaker digs up an abandoned grave to get wood to build a coffin for the savior of his village, but in doing so, he awakens the ghost of an ancient swordsman, and the ghost wants his coffin back.

In this hand-colored short, a magician and his assistant do a series of magic tricks, including making potted plants appear, among others. Melies played the magician, and the actor Manuel played his assistant.

Dinner Time is noted as the first sound cartoon short made after Warner Bros.' success with The Jazz Singer and produced even before Walt Disney's first sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie (though released after).

Inexperienced duck hunter Porky Pig is taunted by a mischievous duck (Daffy, making his screen debut).

Four young women change a flat tire and, feeling hot and bothered, leave their car to go take a swim in the ocean..... and their underwear is less revealing than one-piece bathing suits. While they are frolicking in the surf, a young Black girl comes by and steals their pretty clothes.... and their car has mysteriously vanished, leaving them the grim prospect of having to walk home.... although somehow I imagine some kind man would be happy to pick them up.

Porky invests his savings. Mayhem ensues.

“Tramp, Tramp, Tramp the Boys Are Marching” features a song that dates back to the Civil War, one which was still familiar to audiences of the 1920s. The cartoon begins as Koko the Clown emerges from an inkwell-- an iconic image for animation buffs --and then steps over to a chalkboard to draw an orchestra. The band, “Koko's Glee Club,” marches to a nearby cinema (accompanied by a dog who beats cymbals with his tail) where they lead the audience in the title song.

After an organ grinder's monkey grabs a little girl's lollipop with his tail, the musician explains why monkeys are so clever with their tails.

When a bottle of hair tonic renders him bald, Jimmie is mistaken for a famous French beautician and is called upon to demonstrate his skills.

A fellow in a wide-brimmed hat, with a willowy stick for a rod and a baited hook, sits down on a plank hanging over a bridge above a stream. He sticks the rod under his seat and picks up his bottle to take a swig. Behind him creeps a joker who removes the large flagstone that's holding the fisherman's plank in place.

After his wife leaves him, Joaquín brings his mother-in-law back home to look after him and his son.

Short comedy which posits that in a hundred years men's styles will revert to Regency garb, and that there will be a complete gender role reversal, with husband Clyde Cook staying home alone while wife Katherine Grant goes tomcatting around town.

A vamp is hired to destroy an impending wedding.

Oswald takes a job as a lifeguard to keep an eye on Miss Rabbit, who in turn stages a boating accident hoping Oswald will come to save her.

A man delivering a pair of trousers loses his own pants, setting off a chaotic sequence of events.

Felix, working in a laboratory, inspects test tubes and finds Golf germs and Love germs, who are annoyed at his interrupting their romantic endeavors.

This is a real corker. It starts off with a terrific routine with an erratic elevator. Lane's character, Johnny Jones, upon sight falls in love with Mary Craig (played by Kathryn McGuire who appears in a number of Lane comedies). The man who hopes to marry her is Henry Sharp played by Wallace Lupino; the title card introducing this character says" Henry Sharp – so mean he would steal a dead fly from a blind spider." Johnny agrees to do his father a favor by posing as his little boy of about 10 years old. The father had told the wealthy widow he hopes to marry that he was only 30 years old. Because of Lane's small stature this is more believable than most comedy routines that have an adult playing a child.

Here we have Felix the Cat in Arabia ... so, roll on the usual Arabian clichés. We get gags involving a flying carpet, a hubble-bubble and a camel.

Mickey runs a small theatre. The orchestra plays, rather badly, excerpts from Carmen. Mickey appears as a snake charmer, but the snake is revealed to be a cat with a snake's head painted on its tail. Mickey does a belly dance, to the audience's delight. Mickey then plays the piano, but the piano and stool, apparently annoyed at the violence and complexity of the piece, kick him off stage.
