When we are in the dark, we can see only the sign of the space. The moment the light comes into the room, we can see another space. This space is the incorporated like smoke construction that is composed of the dark, light and time.

An experimental avant-garde film where the character battles with herself, struggling to understand and embrace her true identity. Blending dream-like and reality sequences together, the film connotes inside the character’s mind. Escaping to different parts of her subconscious, she is met with confrontation, fear & desire. This piece of work highlights themes of identity, surrealism & subjectivity, where the instability of the self is at the forefront of the film. The film uses elements of mixed media montage to portray the character’s inner thoughts.

People are punished not for their sins, but by their sins and this is the most severe and proper punishment.

The desire to grow closer to yourself will lead you to disappear. The simple desire to get a closer look at yourself makes you see yourself disappear. The possibilities of recording are limited.

In this film, Edward Sheglanov wanted to present a person as an element of language, and see how a sign lives. The film came together spontaneously, influenced by charming stories about the jazz improvisation of Cassavetes’ films. The author associates this image with the beginning of the garrulous and fruitless 1990s.

This movie marks the understanding of cinema as an extra-human effort and finds cinema beyond the human, somewhere on the territory of its non-existence.
