Crowded House

On November 24, 1996, Crowded House performed their last ever concert to a crowd of more than 120,000 people on the steps of the Sydney Opera House.

Crowded House perform some of their classic songs from their first album along with their latest album release. Their performance of "Sister Madly" was also used as their released video clip.

When he was told he’d be interviewing rock stars Neil Finn and Nick Seymour, Charles Wooley was expecting stories about sex, drugs and rock and roll. Instead he got cops, rabbis and missing money. But Neil and Nick’s beloved Australian – and Kiwi – band Crowded House has always been a little bit different. It seems like only yesterday they first sang their way into our heads and hearts, but in fact they’ve been writing and performing their hit songs for 30 years. So to celebrate the milestone, Neil and Nick took Charles on a nostalgic journey back to where it all started.

Includes all twenty-one of their music videos from 1986 to 1996, except for "Instinct" from their greatest hits album Recurring Dream. In 1987, New Zealand television show Catch 22 interviewed Crowded House while on tour. This interview, at 26 minutes long, is featured with live footage and scenes from all of the music videos up until that point edited throughout the interview.

Three of the top folksinger-composers - Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, and Buffy Sainte-Marie - are featured here. These are the new "city" folksingers whose songs are strictly topical, commenting on the political and social issues of the day. Pete Seeger, an earlier singer in a similar tradition, talks about what the younger singer-composers are attempting to do and about their forerunners, such as Woody Guthrie and Aunt Molly Jackson.

A voice draws two destined individuals together for a showdown, awakening 1/12-scale statues of the Nu Gundam and Sazabi, leading to a fierce battle inside the mall.

Paris Black Night

A one-reel short shot against a nightclub background in which several names from New York City radio programs do a variety of turns. Jack Gilford, a mimic, gives his takes on the likes of Harry Langdon, Rudy Vallee, George Jessel and Henry Armetta'. Loretta Lee sings a song and Babs Ryan does a musical number with the help of her brothers. Edward Paul and his orchestra provide the music.

A troubled and angry 11-year-old orphan from a small Texas town, ends up at a Boy Choir school after the death of his single mother. Completely out of his element, he finds himself in a battle of wills with a demanding Choir Master who recognises a unique talent in this young boy as he pushes him to discover his creative heart and soul in music.

The residents of the town of Ferrara are swept up in a tide of emotion and physical passion by the writings of a Renaissance author. Before long, the town is in chaos and it becomes difficult to keep track of which characters have been involved with one another. Is it any wonder the Germans didn't take their Italian allies seriously?!

This light-hearted comedy operetta tells the story of a newly appointed high school professor who becomes an ideal target for pranks and jokes.

Heidi is orphaned and her uncaring maternal Aunt Dete takes her to the mountains to live with her reclusive, grumpy paternal grandfather, Adolph Kramer. Heidi brings her grandfather back into mountain society through her sweet ways and sheer love. When Dete later returns and steals Heidi away to become the companion of a rich man's wheelchair-bound daughter, the grandfather is heartsick to discover his little girl missing and immediately sets out to get her back.

The Grimm brothers Wilhelm and Jacob, known for their literary works in the nineteenth century, have their lives dramatized. Wilhelm fights to write something entertaining amongst the sea of dry, non-fiction books they write and he sets about collecting oral-tradition fairy tales to put into print. Their life story is countered with reenactments of three of their stories including "The Dancing Princess," "The Cobbler and the Elves" and "The Singing Bone."
