Since his earliest childhood, Robert, chap rather typically French, is in love with the dentist's secretary. He lives under the same roof as her mother, possessive cruel mother who forbids him any desires, whether they are carnal or sweet, and watch his slightest actions. Robert, he, dreams about love and about independence.

Here we can follow the work in the studio which was founded in the Soviet era and has survived heavy censorship and global competition.

In her recent films, Geiser has been exploring the possibilities found in merging video texture with film, creating a kind of deep, ambiguous space, a suggestion of “the floating world”. In ULTIMA THULE, gravity fails, land and sky lose their historical meaning. A small silver plane navigates an ultramarine storm, flying over barely-glimpsed hills, an unlikely ferry to ”Ultima Thule”: the farthest point north, the limit of any journey. The seduction of immersion in blue is too strong to avoid, the land fills with water, and time loses its line.

A couple tries to solve their problems with a device that allows them to watch one another's dreams. It doesn't end well.

The film is about the deceleration of motion in linear form and speed, establishing a connection between space and love. It ends with high-contrast photos with increasingly drastic color changes. This short film, inspired by Brakhage's Stellar film, was created by manipulating 1750 space photos in Photoshop along with grotesque paintings. Some frames contain black paintings by Francisco Goya, grotesque drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, grotesque engravings by William Blake. In order to refer to Brakhage's poetic style and understanding of storytelling in experimental cinema, two poems by Frank O'Hara and Kenneth Koch are placed in the beginning and end of the film.
