Stan Hill Jr. is a Haudenosaunee artist living in Miawpukek First Nation Reserve, Conne River, Newfoundland. In “The Bear Inside a Whale,” he and his family discuss racism, identity, religion, creation and art, along with the cultural extinction of the Beothuk of Newfoundland. Throughout the film, we follow Stan carving a bear out of a whale vertebra. And we visit The Rooms (museum) in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where Stan talks about viewing and reclaiming Indigenous artefacts.

In 2002, Sophie Constantinou interviewed Ron Padgett, Connie Lewellyn and Kenward Elmslie and recorded their recollections of Joe Brainard’s life, including his longtime partnership with Elmslie, and his works, including his noted garden collages. These moments were captured as part a series of short films catalyzed by Elmslie. Elmslie’s vision was to illustrate the artistic spirit of and collaborations among American writers, poets and artists from the late 50s to today.

India, known for its rich cultural diversity, offers a wide range of experiences, which I have captured using different animation techniques. A creative journey through Richard Pochinko's seven masks and six directions, Vanessa reveals her clown while musing on the personal drive and struggles that inspire her art.

Salt: trace, absence of water, passage of time, invading epidemic, living cemetery. Water: manoeuvre, absolute value, fertility, rhizomes, chance. Cotton: corruption, economic issues, hydrophily, desertification. The world has become a vast dried out planet, where the growing of cotton, over exploited for economical reasons is the main cause of desertification. A saline desert covers acres of dried out land where strange salt trees appear. This phenomenon echoes an even greater ecological disaster, the desertification of the Aral Sea. And man is always responsible...
