Thalappavu (English: The Headgear ) is a 2008 Malayalam film loosely based on the events related to Naxal Varghese and Police Constable P. Ramachandran Nair. The film portrays the social and political issues of the Naxalite era of the 1970s in Kerala.

Prasannan, a recently released mental asylum inmate, claims to be an avatar of God and assumes the identity of Poornananda Swami.

In a village named Ilavattam there lives a man by the name of Gopalakrishna Pillai. He is a man with diverse qualities. Basically he is a moneylender, but not the avaricious kind. He lends money at very low interest-rates but makes it a point to get his money back on the date agreed upon. The story takes a turn when a bank, named Grand Bank opens up in the village, offering to give out loans at very low interest. The manager of the bank is a young lady named Jayalakshmi. She has made her entry into the village with a very definite purpose. All this, plus the very different kind of bonding between Gopalakrishna Pillai and his mother, form the plot, which develops towards a very interesting climax.

Jagannathan faces several challenges when he goes to stay in Kanimangalam village. He promises the villagers that he will help in the preparations for the annual temple festival, but will his enemies leave him in peace?

The story is about Sameer (Mammootty), a sweeper with the Alapuzha Municipality, who is always on tenterhooks because he is on the police radar whenever there is trouble or an act of terror occurs. Later it is revealed that his brother-in-law Shahjahan (Unni Mukundan) was suspected to be part of the terror team that had planted bombs in Bombay in 1993 and was later killed in an encounter with the Army in Andhra Pradesh.

Roy and his friends expose the misdeeds of Sahadevan, a corrupt politician, and soon the friends are found murdered. Later, when Roy dies of an illness, Jayan discovers Roy and Sahadevan's past.

Maharaja Talkies is about Vimala (Urvashi) and her three sisters Ganga, Yamuna and Unnimaya running a film theatre that has been bestowed on them by their mother, before she died.

Kunjananthante Kada is a 2013 Malayalam drama film written and directed by Salim Ahamed. The film stars Mammootty in the titular role, as a shopkeeper, alongside debutante actress Nyla Usha while Salim Kumar and Balachandra Menon play other pivotal roles. The story is about a small-time shopkeeper in Kannur and his attempt to find his own place in a rapidly changing world.
