Prince Dominik torments his father with his aversion to marriage so much that the king has him locked up in an old tower. In prison, the prince is discovered by the water nymph Aneta, who is enchanted by the young man's beauty. She boasts about her latest discovery to her friend, the genie Létavec. However, he objects to the nymph, saying that the most beautiful creature is the emperor's daughter, Princess Budúr, who rejects all suitors.
