One day in 1984, Todd Bowden, a brilliant high school boy fascinated by the history of Nazism, stumbles across an old man whose appearance resembles that of Kurt Dussander, a wanted Nazi war criminal. A month later, Todd decides to knock on his door.

A teacher is suspected of engaging in a 'special relationship' with a pupil. When said pupil disappears, the rumour gains momentum. Especially because two years earlier, another of the teacher's teenage pupils also disappeared.

Returned to the ghetto, the shopkeeper shares his information with a friend and then rumors fly that there is a secret radio within the ghetto.
