Kelly Makin

Biography

​From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Kelly Makin is a Canadian television and movie director. He directed some episodes of The Kids in the Hall comedy television series and also directed several episodes of Queer as Folk including that series' last episode. More recently, Makin has directed episodes of Flashpoint, Less Than Kind and Death Comes to Town. His film work includes Tiger Claws, National Lampoon's Senior Trip, Brain Candy and Mickey Blue Eyes. Makin was bestowed a rare honour in 2009 by winning Gemini Awards for direction in two different categories (comedy series and dramatic series). Sean Connery

Biography

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. Volker Schlöndorff

Biography

Volker Schlöndorff is a Berlin-based German filmmaker. He won an Oscar as well as the Palme d'or at the 1979 Cannes Film Festival for The Tin Drum (1979), the film version of the novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Günter Grass. In 1991, he was the Head of the Jury at the 41st Berlin International Film Festival. Schlöndorff has adapted many literary works for his movies, including some critically well-received US productions, but he is also engaged in post-war German politics. He served as the chief executive for the UFA studio in Babelsberg. Schlöndorff also teaches film and literature at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, where he conducts an Intensive Summer Seminar. He was married to fellow film director Margarethe von Trotta from 1971 to 1991. He is currently married to Angelika Schlöndorff, and the couple has one daughter.

Karel Tuytschaever (°1985) graduates from the Royal Conservatory Antwerp in the Drama, an acting education led by Dora van der Groen. A great importance to him is the interaction between his executive work as a performer, his own research traject and work as a maker and his professorship. His background in drama and dance as well play a key role in this triangle. As an actor Karel contributed to plays at theatre houses such as De Tijd, Toneelhuis, Schauspielhaus Wien, HETPALEIS, Detheatermaker, Lab. Troubleyn/Jan Fabre, De Parade, Kaaitheater, Barre Weldaad, Frascati, HertogsHaest and Over het ij. On tv he appears in series such as Witse, Zone stad, Aspe, Binnenstebuiten, Crimi Clowns, Familie, De Vijfhoek, De Kroongetuigen, Professor T, Code 37, Tom & Harry, Tytgat chocolat, Zie mij graag and De Ridder. He plays in films like Rotkop, Do you know what love is and De handel in emotionele goederen. In September 2015 BARRY is founded based on the necessity to create an environment where Karel’s hybrid work can be supported, created an spread. Since 2009 Karel is a regular instructor at the Royal Conservatory Antwerp. He mentors, coaches in acting for the dance department and motion for all drama students. From 2015 on, he started as coordinator of the yearly interdisciplinary research week between all departments of the School of Arts, Common ground. As a core member, he is part of the Erasmus+ research project Rethinking bodies: the tranferable skills of the dance artist (2014 - 2017), which was initiated with the partners in higher education Fontys (Tilburg), Duncan Centre Conservatory (Prague) and NSCD (Leeds). This research redefines the vision of the body in contemporary dance, with themes as Inclusive Dance and Movement practice and Re-designing spaces. As a researcher, he is also involved in a interdisciplinary project with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Growinggifs. Bodies are registered and placed in the shared space between analog and digital, craft and high-tech, with new visuals as output. Karel is regularly solicited as a coach and has hosted workshops and masterclasses organized by Toneelhuis, HETPALEIS, KunstZ, theatre studio Nest, OPENDOEK, University of Antwerp and the Amsterdam School of the Arts.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia George Albert "Scotty" Bowers (July 1, 1923 – October 13, 2019) was an American who was a United States Marine and, from the 1940s to the 1980s, a Hollywood pimp. Stories of his exploits circulated for many years and were alluded to in books such as Hollywood Babylon. Bowers’ claims were met with both praise and skepticism. Bowers decided to talk publicly about his life when most of the people involved were dead and, in his words, "The truth can’t hurt them anymore." In 2012, the publication of his memoir Full Service, written by Lionel Friedberg from 150 hours of interviews, drew publicity, including a profile in The New York Times, and a feature on CBS News Sunday Morning. One journalist has written, "He has a savant-like quality: a result of his refusal to be embarrassed by sex."

Josué Maychi is a Mexican film, theater and television actor, known for his work in Malinche (2018) as Cuauhtémoc, Hernán (2019) as Potonchán and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) as Attuma. Maychi was born in Hopelchén, Campeche, Mexico, where he lived until he was 18 years old, and then emigrated to San Francisco de Campeche where he studied theater. He comes from a family of Mayan origin , which is why he is a native speaker of the Mayan language. He moved to Mexico City and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Administration, but almost at the same time she began a career in Theater, which has allowed her to participate in projects that have precisely contributed to making visible the situation that people from original towns. In 2015 the actor worked in the play 'El Molino de Maiz', which focuses on the visibility of Mayan women and later, in 2017 he participated in the play 'Andares' by Makuyeika Creativo Teatral and directed by Héctor Flores Komatsu, in where he met with actors from Chiapas, Morelos and Oaxaca and shared from their stories, the experience of their childhoods, life in their communities and how they face society. This work allowed them to tour theaters in China, New York, Chicago, Germany, Chile, France and Holland. He has participated in television projects such as Malinche (2018), Hernán (2019) and will make her film debut with the film Presencias (2021), directed by Luis Mandoki , and acting alongside Alberto Ammann and Yalitza Aparicio. As a playwright, he wrote Jats'uts sáastal Bello Amanecer (2014), collaborates in Andares (2017), Deer Walkers (2017), and Ch'e'en: peeking into the well; works in the Mayan language. He has also served as an advisor for theater projects in the Mayan language.

Anthony Simcoe

Biography

Anthony Simcoe (born 7 June 1969) is an Australian actor, best known for his portrayal of Ka D'Argo in the science fiction television series Farscape. The 6' 6" Simcoe is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney. He holds an MFA in Drama, specializing in actor training. Simcoe gained international fame when he was cast as Ka D'Argo in Farscape. He was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series in 2002 for his work on the show. He has also appeared in several other television series including Chameleon. He also does an appearance in the short film Syntax Error. Between acting roles he works as a freelance corporate trainer. He also performs in the band "Signal Room" (formerly known as The Giant Killers, and Number 96), along with fellow Farscape cast member Wayne Pygram. Frank McHugh

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.   Francis Curray "Frank" McHugh (May 23, 1898 – September 11, 1981) was an American film and television actor. Born in Homestead, Pennsylvania, McHugh came from a theatrical family. His parents ran a stock theatre company and as a young child he performed on stage. His brother Matt and sister Kitty performed an act with him by the time he was ten years old, but the family quit the stage around 1930. Another brother, Ed, became a stage manager and agent in New York. McHugh debuted on Broadway in The Fall Guy in 1925. Warner Bros. hired him as a contract player in 1930. McHugh played everything from lead actor to sidekick and would often provide comedy relief. He appeared in over 150 films and television productions and worked with almost every star at Warner Bros. He was a close friend of James Cagney and appeared in more Cagney movies than any other actor. He appeared with him in eleven movies between 1932 and 1953. Their friendship lasted until McHugh's death. By the 1950s his film career had begun to decline, as evinced by his smaller role in Career (1959). From 1964 to 1965 he played the role of Willie Walters, a live-in handyman, on ABC's sitcom The Bing Crosby Show. His last television appearance was as Charlie Wingate in the episode "The Fix-It Man" on CBS's Lancer western series. McHugh played a handyman in that role too. McHugh was married to Dorothy Spencer. Katherine Lauren Hill (born August 25, 1987) is an American former politician and social services administrator from Agua Dulce, California. A member of the Democratic Party, she served as the U.S. representative for California's 25th congressional district from January to November 2019. Hill is the former executive director of People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), a statewide non-profit organization working to end homelessness throughout California. She won her seat by defeating incumbent Republican Steve Knight in the 2018 midterm elections. On October 18, 2019, RedState, a conservative blog, published a report on an alleged affair between Hill and her Legislative Director, which they both denied. On October 23, 2019, Hill admitted that she had had an inappropriate relationship with a campaign staffer before she became a Member of Congress. On October 27, 2019, she announced that she would resign from Congress. Nude photos of Hill were published by the Daily Mail, a British tabloid. Hill blamed the release of the photos on her ex-husband, called them an invasion of privacy and vowed to advocate for victims of revenge porn. She resigned on November 3, 2019, and left office two days later. In June 2021, Hill was ordered to pay US$220,000 to the Daily Mail and other media, to reimburse the legal fees these companies spent defending themselves against her accusations.
