Much Ado about Nothing

The smooth narration, corresponding to the requirements of a light comedy, develops the smiling and optimistic story of the "one-armed" beggar Dostál, who earned enough money with his excellent begging skills to buy a nice house, become a respectable master of the house, and save the impoverished lawyer Neprosil from poverty, who he contributed regularly to him when he was still well off. He also wanted to get him together with his pretty ward Zorka, for whom he said he would be an ideal husband, but the young people were able to do that by themselves and without his clumsy help, or rather despite his rather ineffective help... The film was shown at the VI. IFF in Venice in 1938.

She didn't survive a flood as a baby for the story to end here.

A bible publisher is falling in love with a chorus girl and finds himself backing a Broadway show.

In post-WWII Japan, an American captain is brought in to help build a school, but the locals want a teahouse instead.

A struggling painter begins taking inspiration from the dreams of his friend and roommate, a comic book fan who narrates an adventure story while he sleeps, but unbeknownst to the latter, the artist of his favorite comic book lives in the same building as they do with the model for her drawings.

A couple celebrate their tenth anniversary by quarreling their way to divorce court.

Father and Mother Lennox are a contented old couple, until daughter Jane comes home from college imbued with a passion for hygiene and an unswerving sense of duty toward them. With a book, "Old People and Their Care" as her guide, she puts them through a course of exercising "sprouts," orders hygienic meals, throws wide the windows to cold winds, and upsets their well-ordered comfort.

A theatrical troupe from the west end of London loses its leading lady when she goes off to marry a rich young man from the other side of town. The rest of the play deals with the budding romance and trials and tribulations of their love, as well as the changing face of late-19th-century theatre.
