Two to Look, One to See

Schoolboy Haejoon has homework. He has to create a family newsletter by the end of the summer. One day, he happens to see Hakchul, a junk man, carting a camera. Waiting for his father, who have promised to coming back soon, the boy goes to the mountain for the camera.

Winter of 1921. After fighting for France for four years, the combatants of Bizkarsoro (Lower Navarre, France) have returned from the battlefront. Like the yellow star of the Jew or the ear of the Cagots, children who speak Basque are marked with an stick called ANTI.

Mexico. 1940. The agent of the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs (NKVD) Ramon Merkader comes to the house of Leon Trotsky. Under a long leather raincoat he hides an ice pick. He is here to kill the unsuspecting Russian revolutionary. Moscow. 2019. The modest honours pupil Yura helps his schoolmate Masha in history. They just study Merkader’s murder of Trotsky. The uninhibited Masha decides to tempt nerdy Yura. The director of studies comes into the classroom in the most intense moment. Afterwards the school principal calls in the class teacher of Masha and Yura for a talk. He considers that such an irresponsible teacher has no place at the school and is set to dismiss her. The school bell rings. As if by magic, the endings of these three stories intertwine, giving rise to a new surprising reading of the known events.

Sheridan Le Fanu's classic story, Carmilla, is contrasted with Veronica and Amélia's, two rising actresses. Their relationship, which floats between hate, desire and passion, gets more intense when both get chosen to play opposites in the theatrical adaptation of Fanu's tale.

Frank, the mayor of Weenie Ville, happens to see the desperate Timmy, so he takes Timmy, singing and traveling around Weenie Ville to see the fantastic life of sausages to comfort him. In the end, Timmy dares to dive from a higher place and he is quite proud about himself.

Shot on July 23, 1968, this historical 16mm footage of Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention at Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood, CA has been newly restored from the Vault! The film has been newly synced to the 2023 mixes, marking the first time it's ever been seen with audio. Frank Zappa never had the opportunity to see this footage synced to the music. Now you do. The film was shot in increments and features silent performance footage of The Mothers along with scenes involving The Freaks and the premier of The GTO's (Girls Together Outrageously). In the audience were Flo & Eddie (The Turtles), John Mayall, Elliot Ingber (The Fraternity Of Man), Alice Cooper and members of the Rolling Stones.
