The Return

With the end of the “Peace Process” in 2015, I witnessed the conflict that broke out between the PKK and government forces in the Sur region of Diyarbakır. I was a freelance journalist at that time, witnessing this terrible event caused me a trauma. Years later, I turned these images in my archive into a documentary. I prepared this documentary by reflecting on the witness, migration and urban memory. It was very sad to take such bad footage with my camera. After these images, the Sur region was demolished, and absurd houses are now being built instead of demolished houses.

A documentary about a man who as established himself as a Uzbek dog walker in the Cihangir, where the intellectual people have lived in heart of İstanbul, for 10 years. We will see about this man, who looks like a loser and quite type, whom most of people sees as one of his family, and what he accomplished in 10 years.

Dede Colak works as a shepherd in Aladağ district of Adana. Due to the high rate of child deaths in the village where they live, the families sought to go to the shrines and to give different names to the children born. Taking his name from the tomb of Koyun Dede, Dede lives the name given to him as fate and continues his daily life by carrying the difficulties that come from being a shepherd. Adel was only 12 years old when the civil war in Syria spread to Aleppo. His family first decides to leave the city they live in and then the country. During the 4 years following this process, Adel and his family travel from country to country in search of a home, they lie on the streets and face hunger and disease. However, their life will change completely one day with the message they receive from a Greek-based refugee organization; A small Scandinavian country, which they had never heard of before, accepted Adel and her family as temporary citizens. Now Adel has to learn to adapt to the cold climate and distant society of Estonia, while healing the wounds of the past.

Istanbul is one of the rare cities with the most intense cultural heritage in today's world, with a history of over 5,000 years. For example, in an ordinary street of Beşiktaş, you can see a fountain that has been "partially preserved" despite tens of layers of asphalt on it, and lacks historical and cultural explanation. It is possible to observe undefined and unexplained history and culture all over Istanbul. Look at whatever angle you want to look at, consciously or out of ignorance, but the truth is that Istanbul has been presented to people by being undefined. The aim of this fictional documentary is to raise the awareness of the viewer towards the cultural self of the city, which is of great importance, by questioning the realism of the fictional documentary.

As people leave their summer homes and get ready for winter, it seems that a harsh and calm winter awaits Kamil and his family. Besides the financial difficulties Kamil had, he was left completely alone with his internal conflict.

Anoush, a little girl, goes to borrow a wedding dress from a distant relative for her brother's wedding. Leyla, a teacher, comes home as a second intruder. Leyla has just been appointed to the village school. She learns that the village school had been abandoned many years ago and that there is no children in the school age. On the other hand, Anoush could not learn to write although he could read because her teacher resigned and left the village. Transportation between villages takes place once a day. Anoush and Leyla are forced to spend the night in the same house. Will the two passengers get what they want despite the long road?

This movie is about an old woman Türkan's encounter with one of her oldest friends years later. Türkan comes to the hospital with her daughter and coincidentally meets Nermin. During the chemotherapy session, Nermin seems pleased to talk to Türkan about the good old days. However, when Türkan leaves the hospital, she seems very upset about this meeting.
