Overview

Prince Lloyd wasn't always a prince...in fact, his previous life is one he remembers perfectly: he was a sorcerer, of sorts. So when he was forced to reincarnate, he decided to continue his studies, prince of the realm or no! But his new life has its own sets of challenges...including being a 10-year-old! What's the 7th prince/sorcerer to do?!

I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability _(Tensei shitara Dainana Ouji Datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu)_ is an okay fantasy for the overpowerered main character tale that is pretty standard in its making. It has good characters, storyline, and development of the main character as it goes along. It also has its fair share of fan service. For the pros in this title I have many and for the cons I have very few. My main con with this title has to do with the main character's, Prince Lloyd de Saloum, design. Why does he look more like a little girl than a boy!?! The only reason I know he's a boy is because that is how the characters refer to him. I believe his youth and cuteness are supposed to be the prominent features to delineate his age, but I do not detect much "boy gender" relevance in his appearance. He is supposed to be seven(?) years old, but the outfit he is in fits him like a girl's romper. I mean, am I missing something in assuming he should be in short pants that reach the knees? I believe for the style of dress in the upper class, his pants would reach just past the knee and fasten above the calf, right? But this "boy" is showing off a LOT of shapely "girl-thigh" (eghk), and hardly gives off the impression he likes climbing trees, wrestling, or playing in a muddy creek. And YES, I find the too-tight too-short shorts, the overly long eyelashes, and the oversized eyes all TOO CRINGY to not notice. I would call out how enamored his female servants are of him but that could be because he looks more like a girl-doll than him possibly becoming the land's most powerful mage ever. Usually that is the what & why the females are fighting over the MC, but this series...? One is hard pressed to know for certain exactly what motivates any one character, much less the females. And they are usually as transparent as a character can get it. This animation is not bad. It has a good premise for what it is. But again, the ambiguity of the MC's design is quite apparent. And I really gotta ask, "Why?" I didn't quit the series for this detail, but it is not making me enthusiastic about any more possible seasons to date. Make of it what you will, and good luck in your viewing! - Bob -
