In Destination X, ten unknown Dutch people take a trip across Europe. There is only 1 detail: they do not know where they are. At the end of each episode, the candidates have to guess where they think they are at that moment. Whoever is furthest away from this has to leave the programme immediately.
In the new Discovery series, Jeroen van Koningsbrugge visits the most spectacular, deserted and remote places and buildings. Together with Bob Thissen, an expert in finding and exploring abandoned structures, he discovers places where no one has set foot for years. Raw and forgotten locations, only accessible to true adventurers. They look for the stories behind these mysterious places, which sometimes reveal a shocking history. In Hungary, France, Italy and Turkey they come across hidden war bunkers, old sulfur mines, dilapidated hotels, a ghost village and, as a grisly highlight: a 17th century mass grave under a manhole cover in Genoa.
The new program shows how couples and families build a completely new life after buying a château in France. They renovate the castle and start new businesses. The children attend the local school, and the whole family tries to learn the language. But what is life like in such a château? Will they live their dream life, or will the adventure prove to be bigger than they initially imagined?
