Shot on Super 8 in single frames with pixilation, puppet stop motion, frenetic pans, and plenty of plaid, this very short short film packs every second with as many picturesque and picaresque frames as possible, turning leaf peeping into equal parts immersion therapy and extreme sport to capture the sublime bliss of a lovely day out and about.

A man trapped in an aimless routine becomes the spectator of his own life as he wanders through the urban landscapes of his city in search of something that gives him meaning. Between memories and ghosts, he faces his doubts and longings, questioning what is real and what is just a projection of his loneliness.

Kaito lost his sister who was his lover in his childhood. He severed all contact with the outer world for twenty years and devoted his time to writing down memories of his sister. One day, a week before the manuscript is to be completed, a woman visits his room. She burns all his papers and takes him to the city to cut him off from his memories. Nevertheless, Kaito cannot stop writing about his sister. The woman decides to lead him on a journey to ultimate hell.

We were slightly feverish when we started working with a particular color process. At the development, we had obtained wonderful tones of blue and yellow as well as colored solarizations. Thus, this process was used for 15 days then the fever subsided. At that time they listened to the music of Gilbert and Lewis, and that is why they put a piece on the soundtrack.

For this film, Takashi Makino allowed himself to be inspired by the earth. In a never-ending stream of images, we recognize elements from the forest that he then reduces to an abstraction. The film came about as a classical composition in which the picture and the musical contribution of Jim O’Rourke link up seamlessly and lead the mood in turn. A sense of freedom is what predominates.

Explores the concept of texture in our environment and how it is perceived through our senses, particularly touch and sight. The film describes texture as the surface quality of objects, which can range from smooth to rough, shiny to bumpy, or any variation in between. It emphasizes that every surface, including the Earth and living things on it, has its own unique texture.

the ground is bleeding light is the title of an ongoing series of cinematic diaries that emerge from an intuitive process of observation and movement. Each film follows a different long-forgotten path, one of many ancient roads and crossroads that once formed a network connecting human settlements and still function today as invisible signposts through the landscape. This work was created between Indemini and Sant'Abbondio. The footage is partly self-referential, showing me and my working process in moments of interaction between body, camera, and terrain, guided by light, weather, and chance. The sound is a composition of collected sounds recorded during the walks, including the voices of a church choir in Indemini. The 16 mm material was hand-processed on site in a hybrid development process using plants, fungi, and water collected at the locations visited. The films become carriers of the landscape itself, living archives of earth, movement, and memory.
