In a Moment of Temptation

Mike Kildare, a swaggering youth from New York City's Bowery at the turn of the century, comes to the defense of Mamie Rose, a mender in a secondhand clothing shop, when his own gang of Irish-Americans insult her.

Bertha Sloan loses her job as a sewing-machine girl and subsequently is employed as telephone girl with a lingerie manufacturing company. She soon falls in love with the assistant shipping clerk, Roy Davis, and is promoted to chief model for the firm, owing to the patronage of Morton, the wealthy and wicked manager. Bertha is about to take a position in Paris as designer when Morton lures her to his home.

Roxanna is married to British official John Clayton, but when she catches John in the apparent embrace of another woman, Roxanna leaves England and goes to visit her friend Betty in America. There she tells people that her 'beloved' husband is dead. Betty's friends take to Roxanna, especially Ned, for whom Betty has strong feelings. Further complications arrive in the presence of John Clayton, who has followed Roxanna and now pretends to be the Duke of Morebay and another potential suitor for 'widowed' Roxanna.

When small town girl, Mary Carroll is jilted at the altar by slick city cad David Garrick she has a mental breakdown. The wedding had been set for 3:00 in the afternoon and each day at the appointed time Mary dresses in her wedding gown and waits forlornly. Witnessing this, Mary’s sister Grace swears vengeance. As time passes Grace moves to the city and finds success as a singer under the name Madame Mimi. One day Garrick attends one of her performances attempting to insinuate himself into her favor and Grace sees her chance for revenge.

He drifts into a mining camp where by chance he discovers the cheat who ruined him, up to his old tricks. He foils the new plot, wins the girl of his dreams and faces the world with new determination.

Mr. Carlson of Arizona comes to New York where he is summarily swindled out of his funds and deserted by all his new “friends.” An anonymous friend out West learning of his plight offers him a position as engineer in a construction camp. After a few more travails he discovers his patron is Agnes, the girl he has come to love, and they are united in wedlock.

Illustrator Donald Barstow living in a run-down studio building develops an interest in the married Mrs. Blakely. She invites him to Philadelphia for the weekend and he accepts leading to unexpected complications for both.

Farmer Leo Bannister is obsessed with his neighbor Auriole Praed, but she finds him too strong. She travels to Paris and marries a young painter, but Bannister plots to use an actress to win her back.

Tomboy Jane Dwight’s father strikes oil on their farm and becomes smitten with young millionaire James Thornton when he comes to purchase the land. She heads off to a posh boarding school, returning a year later with fancy airs thinking it will impress James, but he preferred the original Jane. Will she realize in time to keep his interest?

European peasants Albert & Louise are separated by war with Albert only able to return once during the conflict. While he is away the enemy’s captain seizes their home as his headquarters and forces himself on Louise. When the war ends shortly afterwards Albert is overjoyed at the news of a birth of a son but begins to question when he finds that Louise has rejected the child. Forcing a confession from her about her molestation he reacts with vengeance towards the child but Louise realizing the boy is blameless acts to protect him and the three form a family.

A man who believes his wife cares more for her dresses and social status than for their home life. To teach her a lesson and cure her of her vanity, he devises a plan to make her think he has lost all of his money. He hopes that by facing poverty, she will abandon her superficial ways and become a more devoted, practical wife.

An upper class melodrama.

The traveling troupe of actors gets stuck in Dawson City, and Andrews, the protagonist, with his wife, Edna, has almost no money. They set off for the gold region. Tired and hopeless after a long journey, they arrive at Dan Shaw's shack. The old miner welcomes them and confidently shows them a bag of wax nuggets that, for many years, he has been collecting to buy a house in California.

Vera Ashton's criminal history resurfaces via her brother when he coerces her into robbing her wealthy employer. A shootout occurs; Vera fatally shoots her brother in self-defense. Her fiancé, Dixon, supports her claim of being his wife. A surprise revelation clears Vera, preventing her arrest.

Sauntry, secretary to John Graydon, the wealthy banker, commits many robberies in the city among the wealthy class, gaining a rather sinister reputation. He hides his tracks by placing a wooden leg on one of the good ones, thus leaving a print and a round mark. Graydon's diamond disappears and the chain to which it was tied is found by Limpy Fisher, a boy from the East Side, with a wooden leg.

Dance hall girl, Daisy Wellington, is dismissed after falling ill. A young ranchman takes her to his cabin and helps her recover. She falls in love with him but ultimately sacrifices her newfound life by returning to the dance hall to earn money to bring his wife out west after the ranchman's savings are stolen by bandits.

A Lady stops her daughter from eloping with a farmer, takes away her baby, and makes her marry a Lord.
