By the side of a dusty, deserted highway in the desert of Tatacoa, Colombia, Alirio and Raúl work under the blazing sun at a ranch that has been converted into a tire shop. The shop is also their home and their only company is Capitan, their dog, and a radio that never hushes.
The stories told in this documentary span the twenty-five years of existence of the now-defunct La Gorgona prison, located on the island of the same name. Thus, confinement, violence, and isolation gave rise to many escape attempts, but few were successful. Through interviews with individuals who experienced these events firsthand, the use of animated reenactments, and the emphasis on the power of nature, this work visually reproduces journalist Silvia Luz Gutiérrez's investigation into the mysteries surrounding various characters and their different fates.

In the mid-1980s, peace initiatives between the Colombian government and the guerrilla group, FARC, led the latter to disband after two decades of fighting and establish a legal-political party, the Union Patriótica (Patriotic Union). As the UP met with some successs in local elections, it became a target of right-wing death squads and paramilitaries. So far, 3,000 UP members have been murdered or have disappeared, making it a case of political genocide unparalleled in the world. The documentary "The Red Dance" views, through the memories of survivors and relatives of victims, this period of terror and assassination. While FARC has reverted to war, a petition is pending before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) regarding human rights violations by the State of Colombia.
