Lady in the Dark

Part fact and part fiction, Zoot Suit is the film version of Luis Valdez's critically acclaimed play, based on the actual Sleepy Lagoon murder case and the zoot suit riots of 1940s Los Angeles. Henry Reyna is the leader of a group of Mexican-Americans being sent to San Quentin without substantial evidence for the death of a man at Sleepy Lagoon. As part of the defense committee, Alice Bloomfield and George Shearer fight the blatant miscarriage of justice for the freedom of Henry and his friends.

After the disappearance of all the people at a Halloween party, Olivia will try to find out the whereabouts of her ex-boyfriend, Oliver, to mend her relationship with him. The film chronicles Perceval's knighthood, maturation and eventual peerage amongst the Knights of the Round Table, and also contains brief episodes from the story of Gawain and the crucifixion of Christ.

Shankar was a young lawyer in pursuit of making it big in the professional world. However, his world is turned upside down when he comes to know that his father, who he knew went missing, was in real life spending his lifetime in jail as he was incorrectly accused of murdering a lady named Hemangini. A group of stage actors who hate Ahmed Aluwi, the rich young man, starts attacking him in the magazines; when Ahemd knows about that, he decides to check the situation himself and he falls in love with one the actress over there; he pretends to be a poor simple actor, just to be near her; she starts responding to him without knowing his true identity.

Fahmy is an ardent believer in horoscopes and manages his life according to them. When a fortune-teller convinces him that his life is connected to a Virgo who has a black birthmark, he discovers that the girl in question is Nana, his friend Adel's fiancée.

A childhood episode comes back to the memory of a man with no land

France in the first half of the 17th century, at the time of the Duke and all-powerful Cardinal Richelieu. The courtesan Marion Delorme falls in love with the nobleman Didier de Lassigny, although she is still with another nobleman at the time, the Marquis de Saverny. Marion then leaves the Marquis. This leads to a duel between the two aristocratic gentlemen, although duels were strictly forbidden in these circles by Richelieu. When this becomes known, Didier is put in chains and sentenced to death. Marion sacrifices herself for the sake of her new love, but the sacrifice is in vain. Didier, who refused to flee, is finally beheaded by order of the "red executioner" Richelieu.

The world outside beckons, but she stays in.

In a remote Kyrgyz village, Dzhamilya follows her parents' orders when she marries a man without loving him. Then World War II breaks out and her new husband has to leave the village. While being alone, Dzhamiliya meets the returning soldier Daniyar and falls in love with him instead. Years later, their young friend Seid reminisces about the couple.
