Kara Bayram is a poor farmer living in a Turkish village with his wife, 3 kids (4th on the way) and his old mother Irazca Ana. They live on their own until another villager, Haceli who is backed up by the Mukhtar (local administrator of the Village) starts to build a new house right in front of their's. Kara Bayram and Irazca Ana do not accept these uninvited neighboors from the first day and unwanted events start right away.

Bahri gets jealous, putting soporific in her drink, he rapes Esin. Esin gets pregnant, she breaks up with Yalcin. Her uncle believes that the trouble maker is Yalcin, he urges him to marry her. They marry, but Yalcin doesn't know about her pregnancy. Bahri secretly puts drugs into Yalcin's pocket, he gets arrested, Esin has a miscarriage out of the shock. She tells Yalcin all the truth. Yalcin is released on bail. He reaches home when Bahri is about to rape Esin. Esin shoots Bahri, Yalcin takes it upon himself. As the judge gives him the death penalty, Esin reveals the truth. He is acquitted and happy days await them.

The action takes place on one of the nights in October 1917 and is limited to the walls of a St. Petersburg apartment occupied by the wealthy noble family of the Starodubtsevs. The elder sister Anna (Elena Kuzmina) is a helpless, spoiled woman, far from life.
