Super Bowl XXXI, played on January 26, 1997, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, saw the Green Bay Packers defeat the New England Patriots 35-21. This victory ended the Packers’ 29-year championship drought and marked their return to prominence after decades of mediocrity. Led by league MVP Brett Favre and a dominant defense, Green Bay captured its third Super Bowl title, cementing itself as one of the premier franchises in NFL history.

Super Bowl XXXVI, played on February 3, 2002, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans between the AFC-champion New England Patriots and the NFC-champion St. Louis Rams, came amid celebrations of America months after the tragedies of September 2001. The Rams had won Super Bowl XXXIV and were overwhelming favorites, while the Patriots had seen starter Drew Bledsoe injured and replaced by 5th round sophomore QB Tom Brady only to see Brady injured in the AFC title game, and Bledsoe to step in and win the game. The Patriots shocked the Rams early on and had a 17-3 lead, but a late Rams rally with a touchdown from Ricky Proehl tied the score, forcing a last-minute drive by Brady for one last opportunity to win.

Super Bowl XXXVIII, played on February 1, 2004, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, was an instant classic, featuring a thrilling fourth quarter and a last-second game-winning field goal as the New England Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers 32-29. The game, which had a slow start but an explosive finish, cemented Tom Brady’s status as an elite quarterback and gave the Patriots their second Super Bowl title in three seasons.

Super Bowl XXXIX, played on February 6, 2005, at Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, saw the New England Patriots defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21, securing their third Super Bowl title in four years and cementing their status as the NFL’s newest dynasty. The game was a hard-fought battle, featuring two elite teams and a dramatic finish, but once again, the Patriots’ poise and execution under pressure proved to be the difference.

Super Bowl XLI, played on February 4, 2007, at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, featured the Indianapolis Colts defeating the Chicago Bears 29-17 in a game defined by heavy rain, historic firsts, and the long-awaited triumph of Peyton Manning. This victory not only gave the Colts their first Super Bowl title since their Baltimore days in 1970 but also solidified Manning’s legacy as one of the game’s all-time great quarterbacks.

Super Bowl XLII, played on February 3, 2008, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, saw the New York Giants pull off one of the greatest upsets in NFL history, defeating the previously undefeated New England Patriots 17-14. The Giants’ improbable victory ended New England’s bid for a perfect 19-0 season and was defined by a resilient defense, a gritty performance by quarterback Eli Manning, and one of the most iconic plays in Super Bowl history.
