The salesman resents being treated as a hired hand and takes them for a bumpy ride terminating far in the country where he runs out of gas. They walk to the house of the county judge who is on the lookout for suspected elopers and has agreed to hold them for identification.

A semi-documentary experimental 1930 German silent film created by amateurs with a small budget. With authentic scenes of the metropolis city of Berlin, it's the first film from the later famous screenwriters/directors Billy Wilder and Fred Zinnemann.

He falls in with a lot of bad fellows and is robbed. Ashamed to go home, he ships on board a sailing vessel.
