A Gangster's Morals

The first film in the Fearless Guy series. Kosuke was part of a huge organized crime group, but decided to leave after his best friend died a brutal death at the hands of the gang leader. He goes on a trip with a guitar in his hand and ends up in Yokohama. The guitar he plays at the bar in the evening was given to him by his late best friend. At the bar, Kosuke meets Kumagoro. Kosuke saves Kumagoro from bandits. Kumagoro is a funny man, he came to this city to reunite with the woman he swore to marry. Kosuke decides to settle in this city and help him find his beloved, but the future of this city is not cloudless either, because the cruel Yakuza is in power in the city, and soon Kosuke will have to fight with him...

Narumi has decided to retire from the underworld society with which he has been involved for 20 years. He also informs his colleague and attends his final smuggled handgun deal. Suddenly, shows up and the client is shot to death accidentally. That client was an undercover police investigator, so Narumi is now facing a predicament.

Set over one night in Tokyo, we follow Leo, a young boxer down on his luck as he meets his ‘first love’ Monica, a call-girl and an addict but still innocent. But, little does Leo know, Monica is unwittingly caught up in a drug-smuggling scheme, and the two are pursued through the night by a corrupt cop, a yakuza, his nemesis, and a female assassin sent by the Chinese Triads. All their fates intertwine in spectacular Miike style, at his most fun and anarchic.

A barkeeper saves a Yakuza boss' life and thus makes his way up in the organization. However, his fear of nothing soon causes problems.

Just like in her previous short films, the director - who cut her teeth in the advertising world and as the writer of a video game - throws a lot of genres and techniques into the mix: from science fiction to gangster films, from hospital eroticism to animation. Once he discovers this, he loses his nerve and turns in his badge. But the chase turns into a personal vendetta where the ex-cop plans to wipe out the entire gang.
