Overview

The definition of "tourism" is redefined as New Zealand filmmaker David Farrier sets his sights on the world of dark tourism. From nuclear tourism in Japan to Pablo Escobar-inspired tourism in Columbia to frontier tourism in Turkmenistan, David visits the world’s grisly and offbeat destinations, meeting travelers drawn to them, and the people telling these stories day after day.

This show kept my attention and the locations were notably interesting. Having traveled the world, I've seen many of these locations and similar lifestyles but this series took me to places I hadn't been. The only thing that annoyed me at all was how clueless David was to the real world. Many times I said to myself, "What a Pu$$y !" He definitely needs to grow a thicker skin and tougher resiliency if he's going to be doing and going to places like these. He was so incredibly clueless to so many things it was just sad. Clearly, he's lived a sheltered life. Sadly this is a problem with so many in this day and age of YouTube and Facebook. I did feel as though he was trying to push a message out to viewers and I'll let you figure those messages out. As for the material itself, I'm quite impressed with some of the things he did in this series. A few locations were simply dangerous to even breath at and he seemed to take it in stride...though, he's probably going to be sterile or develop weird growths now. Overall, this series is worth watching.
