HiGH&LOW －THE PREQUEL－ centers the past, where a legendary gang called Mugen ruled the area. Mugen had controlled the entire area with its overwhelming power until it suddenly disbanded. That led to the transformation of the well-controlled area by Mugen into a lawless one, but on the other hand, it opened a new chapter of five emerging gangs that took control of the area on their separate territory. Each of these five gangs fights to protect what they value respectively. Taken from the initial of the five gangs, the area came to be known as the SWORD area. This is the story of the end of one summer, on the eve of the SWORD’s formation. Set in the turbulent 18th century Europe, where power and intrigue swirled around him, this musical depicts his love, friendship, and courageous battle for his beliefs on a grand scale, involving a variety of characters.

Set on the fictional Mediterranean island of Callista on the eve of the outbreak of the French Revolution, the play depicts the struggles of a young officer who is torn between love, friendship, and his love for his homeland.

He protests his innocence, but the jailors laugh and torment him before locking him up in solitary confinement. A few short hours before, Dantes had returned to Marseille from a voyage at sea and been reunited with his fiancée, Mercedes. Her father, Pierre Morrel, promoted Dantes to captain as a wedding gift to the couple. Into the middle of this celebration came the soldiers to arrest Dantes. He is sure he has done nothing that is against the law, and promises Mercedes he will return soon. Then abruptly we realize that the story is being narrated by a bunch of high school kids, who are studying the book "The Count of Monte Cristo" in order to do a play. In their squabblings about dramatic interpretation, the kids summarize the more complicated parts of the story.

This is the story of how Bill grew as a proper gentleman, and the romantic comedy masterpiece between him and his lover, Sally. In this Takarazuka performance, Amami Yuuki who plays character Bill, and together with Kano Maria who plays as Sally, we will present to you this heartful musical that is filled with famous songs.

To mark the fiftieth anniversary of its premiere, it will return to the stage of the Takarazuka Grand Theater in 2024 for the first time in ten years. This story, a foundational work of shojo manga that continues to be loved by many people across ages and borders, is set in France during the raging revolution, depicting the forbidden love of two couples. The Takarazuka Revue has staged various versions of The Rose of Versailles over the years. In this version that focuses on Fersen, we present the splendid world of The Rose of Versailles in a glorious celebration of its fiftieth anniversary.
