The film is set in a small, snow-covered mountain village in Kurdistan. We follow a young woman, Helin, who wants to discover her family history. She lives with her mother, Susika, who has not spoken since her husband was arrested and imprisoned by the Turkish authorities. She cannot write or read either. Helin wants nothing more than to find out the story of her father. It is a story of how political oppression of a people and culture impacts that community, how it silences people, and about human resilience. Keeping a culture alive is a form of resistance.

“Balance of Life” is a film about life’s and human kinds’ fight to find the balance between our own evolving life style and the nature of the planet we inhabit. The human race is drifting further and further away from its real roots and from what being a human is really about. The speed of development has increased to a state where humans have a hard time keeping up. We find ourselves in a situation where both our own and the planets’ wellbeing is severely threatened. As a last resort human is relying on faith to find the balance. Is faith the last defense of man or is this world guided by forces greater than us? The Water Map is an essayistic journey through the ethnography and landscapes of the Region of Murcia. These places are in the process of disappearing due to the increasing and abundant agricultural exploitation. Water has marked the territory and the culture of the area, and with its disappearance, the memories of four characters fade away.

“How To Bury A Dead Cat” centers on 4 children of various ethnicities as they run around their neighbourhood to find a way to bury a dead cat found nearby their frequent playground and void deck. As the story unfolds, each child learns of the other’s culture and religion benignly as they get lost and confused in the teachings passed down from their parents, exchanging and questioning which method is the real way of sending the dead cat off into the afterlife. As the day comes to a close their worried parents went looking for them only to find their children crying and torn over the loss of the cat’s life at a police station. The parents, after much discussion, decided to put aside their differences and combined all their ornaments together while burying the dead cat in favour of their children’s happiness.
