Ange and Julia return to the Corsican village where they grew up for the first time in ten years. They face the delicate task of telling their mother, Mado, who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer’s, about her move to a nursing home. March 1943. In the middle of the Italian occupation of Corsica, two Communist resistance brothers strategically link up with two Italian trouffions in order to get the information necessary to organize the parachute drops on the Balagne. A real friendship is born between these men, the first steps of the reversal of the situation and of the alliance that followed the Allied landing in Ajaccio in September of the same year.

Tzek and Pido form a duo of Corsican comedians. The name is chosen to emphasize the disturbing (or itchy) character of the duo's sketches that "scratch where it hurts": Tzek is the phonetic pronunciation of A zecca (The Tick in the Corsican language) while Pido refers to the Pou, another insect that causes itching.

The son of the wealthy Signor Della Corba loves one of his maids. Her brothers and father rebel at the idea of this union. But the girl is pregnant, and after the birth of the child, Della Corba's son decides to kidnap his mistress on Carnival Day. The brothers, having caught wind of the plan, kill him, then, in disguise, take him masked to his father's house, passing him off as a drunken friend. At dawn, Della Corba discovers her lifeless son under the mask. The maid having died in the meantime, he takes the child in and adopts him.
