Over There

In Paris Mildred White becomes romantically involved with both Derwent Ainsworth and Dr. Mario Martinez. She prefers Derwent, but when he leaves suddenly to see his dying father, Mario convinces Mildred that he has deserted her. World War I begins, Derwent returns for Mildred, but upon learning that she is leaving Paris with Mario, he enlists in the army. Mildred, learning of Mario's deception joins the Red Cross to be near Derwent. When he is blinded in battle unbeknownst to him Mildred assumes his care. Their love renewed, though he is unaware of her identity, the two soon marry. Mildred then prevails upon Mario to perform a special operation on Derwent's eyes. His vision restored the pair restate their love.

Gilbert enters his house through an open door and discovers a young female thief stealing his jewels. He lets her go, but they are both caught by two accomplices: one posing as the homeowner and the other as a policeman. The impostors manacle Gilbert and the girl together and have them "marched away." The fake policeman then returns, announcing he "gave them the slip," and he and his partner prepare to flee. At this point, the real police arrive, led by Gilbert and the girl, and the two wily crooks are arrested. The story concludes on a romantic note, with the open door proving to be their "gateway to happiness" as love awakens between Gilbert and the lass.

Jeanette, the pretty daughter of a hard-working family of the tenement district, envies other girls with good clothing. She meets the flashy Carrie who invites her out lending her some of her gaudy evening wear. Though tempted by the easy life offered Jeanette sees the peril of that life when a kindly fallen woman warns her of the dangers ahead.

Melia Nobbs, a young Canadian woman, supports both her invalid father Ambrose and brother Henry. When Henry faces arrest for helping himself to his employer's cash, Melia steals the amount from the star of the theater where she has been dancing and offers it to her brother if he will enlist in the army. Henry agrees and goes off to war, making Ambrose proud of his son, but when Ambrose learns that his daughter has been arrested for theft, he disowns her. Melia does not reveal the reason for taking the money and is sent to prison. Meanwhile, Henry fights bravely in France and returns home minus an arm but wearing the Victoria Cross. He finds his sister, weak and worn from overwork, in the prison hospital. Seeing her brother with his medals, Melia realizes that her sacrifices for him and her country have not been in vain, and that in her own way, she has served her country.

A power company floods a sleepy Tennessee Valley for a dam to run a hydraulic power plant. Garry, a Northern engineer on the project, falls in love with Caroline, Colonel Bradford's adopted daughter.

George Newell Jr. is the son of wealthy parents. In the days leading up to World War I, he disgraces himself and his family. In order to redeem himself, he enlists after the war breaks out. During battle he is injured and loses his memory. He is lovingly cared for by his nurse, with whom he falls in love.

This picture tells of Leila Austen, a wealthy girl, who leaves Halsey Brent, a young suitor, to marry Tom Carter, a mining engineer.

Returning from the war to his father's California sawmill, Bob Cameron takes up with Hinky Dink, a cocky Englishman and man of the road. Ignoring a "no trespassing" sign on Cameron's property, Hinky is caught in a steel trap; Cameron, seeking aid, is threatened by Eben Beauregard, an old southerner, but the appearance of Antonia "Tony" Lee, Bob's childhood friend, quells his temper.

Bobby Austin is sent to Madrid on a diplomatic mission. He is followed by Lady Sylvia Hutton, a society adventuress who is infatuated with him. She takes him on a yachting trip to Monte Carlo where he meets Kathleen Lawrence, a notorious "kept" woman, who tries to save him from the ruin that Lady Sylvia bears in her wake.

A villainous Major plots to destroy the Duke of Desborough to steal his prized racehorse, "Clipstone." He frames the Duchess, Muriel, in a false scandal, causing a divorce and financial ruin, but is ultimately thwarted when the horse wins the Derby.

Wealthy George Hunter struggles to maintain his social-climbing wife and daughters' expensive lifestyle. After his, investments crash, he faces financial ruin and seeks help from a wealthy aunt, leading to various complications.

Lloyd Kent returns to his hometown after twenty years a wealthy man. All the while he was gone, he held the memory of his sweetheart, Emily Lester though she jilted him in a moment of anger and married his rival, John Rand. Emily is now a widow in diminished circumstances with an 18-year-old daughter, Betty, who is the image of her now careworn mother in her youth. Because of that memory Lloyd is drawn to Betty who is flattered despite her love for her neighbor Hal Edwards. Betty, realizing the situation, finds one of her mother’s old gowns and helps transform her appearance closer to her girlish self. Lloyd is swept away with renewed love and both couples happily paired with the proper partner.

Monroe Salisbury plays a man of the Northwoods. This time he's Silent Duval, of mixed-blood origin, who distinguishes himself as a football player at Stanford University. But his Indian blood makes him an outcast and when he is injured, only one white girl is there to comfort him. So he decides to return home where he'll get some respect.

Aurora Lane (Bessie Barriscale) lives in a small town loaded with small-minded residents. She had an illegitimate child and with the earnings from her millinery shop, she has sent him away to be educated. When Don, her son (Arnold Gregg), returns from college, he finds he has to defend his mother constantly. He is accused of murdering a man who made a snide remark about Aurora and is put on trial.

In Jedda, Persia, American consul George Gage, known as a woman hater, is shocked when his newly arrived assistant, "Billie Baxter," whom he assumes will be a man, turns out to be an attractive woman. Despite his formerly anti-female leanings, George finds himself falling in love with Billie and is jealous when his womanizing friend, Brad Wilson, arrives in Jedda and makes a play for her. At the same time, when the ruling Pasha, Abdul Mustapha, meets Billie, he also becomes smitten and tries to have her brought to his harem. Despite their rivalry, George and Brad join forces and save Billie from the Pasha, after which she decides that George is the man she loves and wants to marry. Considered a lost film.

When her baby daughter Eleanor is traumatized after her father perishes in a storm at sea, Mother Coutierre sends the girl to live with her aunt in Paris. Years later, Eleanor, now a successful model in Paris, is surprised by a visit from her elder sister Marie, who has come to hide the birth of her illegitimate child. When Mother Coutierre arrives and believes Eleanor to be the infant's mother, Eleanor continues the deception so that her sister can marry Pierre Bondel, a fisherman.

Danny Eagan is accused of killing a gang leader named Pete. To protect the reputation and honor of the woman he loves, Danny refuses to offer any defense for himself, choosing instead to face the consequences of the charge.

To save her good friend, Peter Gordon, from marrying a gold digger named Dora, Edith Parrish introduces the girl to Ralph Brent, a male vamp, knowing that she will fall for Brent's flattery. Dora, however, begs Peter to advise Edith against associating with Brent.
